Chemistry and materials engineering
Subject description:
The studies are focused on the technology of production of various materials, research on their structure and properties, and practical applications. The acquired knowledge includes modern and traditional methods of production, modification and research of such materials as: polymers, elastomers, hybrid materials, composites, ceramic materials, biomaterials, metals and alloys as well as advanced electronic materials and materials for photovoltaics. The student acquires skills in modern apparatus and devices, e.g. DSC, TG, DMTA, AFM, 3D printing, lasers, twin-screw extruders, rheometers, imaging techniques.
Students are now able to:
- Understand phenomena and processes in the field of chemistry and related sciences, including nanotechnology, as well as describe and explain them
- Use advanced computer software used in chemistry and materials science (including structure modeling and processes, use of chemical databases, etc.)
- Search for new technical solutions, design new materials
Hiring perspectives:
- research centers
- technologically advanced companies
- quality control of materials and advanced processes
- modern enterprises related to chemistry, electronics, photonics and related modern technologies
